We must save our earth.

  Without the Earth we have no where to live, along with many other organisms. If we don't save the Earth now maybe our children or grandchildren might not be able to see it for long.Our atmosphere is weaking and we have to do something about it fast.   We could plant more trees to create more oxygen to keep the bad air away from the atmosphere, or we could just stop cutting down the rainforest. We are living and we need the space but we aren't the only species on this earth. Saving the rainforest is not only good for us and the atmosphere but also good for the many  different species that it homes.   We could try to get as many people as possible to switch to hybrids and other energy saving things to use less fossil fuel for energy and relying more on solar and wind energy.   News and magazines play important role in a national life. They continue news as well as views. They are necessary not only to know what is happening in the country but also to know what is going around the world.   In past, we had only few newspapers. But now, we have numerous newspapers and magazines. They are in Sinhala,English and Tamil. Reading a newspaper everyday is a good habit as you will get the knowingness of the surroundings and also your general knowledge improves.   Newspapers keep check on government and report about social issues like poverty, ignorance, injustice etc... In one way, it is also a platform to share public opinions.   Not only reporting, but newspapers are also a major mean of education. It has information that is beneficial to industrialists, traders, businessmen and also students.

Patriotism.

   Patriotism is love of the person for one's own country. It is the feeling that is present in us by birth. We love the land in which we are born and continue to love it no matter where we go.    Patriotism is a forever feeling that lasts through out the life. It gives great force to the man to serve his country. It is the love that bound us to our land and whenever there is any adverse condition, it will makes us stand together and provides us hope. Every person knows that country is the identity. In the world, people know us for where we live. Patriotism is the good will for the place we called homeland. Arm forces,government servants,private employers and every citizen of the country work hard day and night to build their nation. Patriotism is a fuel that powers them all.    To be free in the land is the great blessing and we all must enjoy our freedom by being true to our country,by being patriotic.

My favourite place.

What is a clam and quite place that is my favourite place. Among the lot of places I most love a one place. Also, I most love to set off there in evening. The cold wind and the sun set is perfect in sunny days. Also, birds fly over the sky .as like they are going back home after their job. I most like to breath in slowly in there. With salt taste and smell. That feel me thirsty. The water come and go back again and again. Which like our relationships. After 2 - 3 hours the sun is fully hide. also the dark is going to do the rest. Environment is going cold. That feel me calm and relax. I watch over the sky and faraway. Also I love to read my favourite books in this place. that gave me a energy as like a cup of coffee with the rainy day. So finally this is my favourite place it called as beach side.

Leisure Time.

   All of us work most of the time to earn our daily wages and yet we have a time at our disposal with full freedom to spend as we like.This time is leisure time for rest.    Leisure is necessary for every living being,name,for non living objects also for recreational activities.    So we see that everything in this world requires rest.As we need food for body so also we need leisure for the same purpose. We enjoy our leisure time in various ways.      Students may spend their leisure time with sight seeing or by making leisure trips to any place of importance.     A worker who does physical labour, can find pleasure and relief in a game of chess or ludo or going to a book or chatting with his friends.     We can also arrange a leisure programmes as per our hobby.     Leisure makes the mind fresh and gives it energy to do work with new zeal. Leisure properly utilised adds strength to the mind as fuel.

K.Jayathilaka

  K. Jayathilaka is a great writer.  He specializes in short stories.  Mr. K. Jayathilaka was born in 1926 in Kirindiwela Redhawana area.  He received his primary education from the Redawana Boys School.  He later graduated from the University of London.  "Punuruppatthiya and other short stories" is his first book of short stories.  It was composed in 1955.  His most famous book of short stories is "Nonimi Sittham and other short stories" book is his most populer book. He has also written many novels.   "Rajapakse Walavva" and "The death of Punchirala" are some of them.  He has been honored with the Sahityaratna Award.
